French Toast Sticks

I really enjoy breakfast and even more so if french toasts are involved. They’re delicious, soft, sweet and the best way to start a day. You can make them in the form of sticks like I did or rather take this recipe and cook the slices whole like it’s done traditionally. You can serve them with berries, banana, honey, maple syrup, chocolate o whatever you like the most.Ingredients: 

Portions: 2 people

  • 6 white bread slices
  • 1 egg
  • 100ml milk (can be skimmed or vegetable)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp slat
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Butter to cook
  • Maple syrup to serve
  • Berries or bananas to serve

1. CUT AND SOAK. Cut the bread slices into strips. I also removed the crust but it’s not compulsory. Mix the milk, egg, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and sugar using a fork or whisk and soak the sticks one by one.

3. COOK. Take the strips to a pan with butter on medium-low heat as soon as they are soaked and turn them as they become golden. They’re cooked at medium-low heat so the heat can cook the wet center in the sticks.

3. START YOUR DAY. Serve with maple syrup and berries and enjoy :)
