At some point in our lives, we have all found something that made us think: “Wow, who knew things could be this way?” That something can be a person, a song… but the best feeling in the world is when you find a book that makes complete sense to you and leaves you with this sentiment.

Up next are 5 books that have this power:

1. Me before you

Many of you may have seen the movie adaptation of this book and you probably loved it. Well, I can assure you that the book is 1000 times better. Apart from the beauty of the romance, it is very inspiring seeing how the protagonist, Lou, dedicates each day of her life to make Will, the quadriplegic guy she took care of, have a positive perception of life. This book is funny and heartwarming at the same time. I recommend you keep a box of tissues nearby while reading it.

2. Wonder

This book is the friendship tale that you simply need in your life. It follows August, a boy with a cranial-facial abnormality, who goes to school for the first time in his life. The book may seem childish because characters’ age range, but I promise you that people all ages will enjoy it and will want to befriend every single person who’s a part of the story. Wonder brings hope to the heart of the reader.

3. Anything written by John Green

John Green has magical powers when it comes to writing books, or at least that seems to be the case. Every single one of his characters is so complex and unique that they appear to be real life people. And their stories are so compelling that you’ll be drawn in from page 1. With humorous bits and others where you’ll feel as if your heart was being wrenched out of your chest, every single book is a work of art. My favorites are The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska.

4. The Giver

At one point or another, everyone has had something painful or embarrassing happen to them that they wish they could delete from their memories. In the universe of The Giver, it is possible to do so. Not only that, but every single one of humanity’s terrible mishaps has been eliminated from people’s minds… but this is not as wonderful as it seems. This book teaches us that those memories make us who we are and we have to learn from them and grow, not bury them and never revisit them.

5. The perks of being a wallflower

This book deals with so many difficult topics in a way that brings hope and optimism for the future. It’s a story about growth, acceptance, and friendship. The characters are so loveable and will pull you to the depths of their lives, apart from also introducing beautiful quotes that will make perfect sense. My favorite: “We accept the love we think we deserve.”
